Backenddevelopment services for the part of your product users never see.

We build the servers, databases, background jobs and cloud infrastructure behind web and mobile products. Fast responses, correct data and deploys that don't keep anyone up at night.
Discuss your back end

Users judge the interface. They stay because the back end works.

Every login, payment, search and notification passes through your back end. When it's slow, wrong or down, no amount of interface polish will help. We build back ends with clear boundaries, data models that match your business and infrastructure you can understand and afford.

Where back ends start to hurt

01

One codebase does everything

Business logic, integrations and reports are tangled in one place, so every change carries risk.
02

The database is the bottleneck

Missing indexes, unbounded queries and a schema that grew by accident slow down every screen.
03

Background work runs in the request

Emails, imports and reports run while the user waits, and time out under load.
04

Cloud bills nobody can explain

Resources were added in a hurry, never removed, and the monthly AWS invoice keeps rising.
05

Deploys are manual and scary

One person knows how to release. Rollbacks mean restoring backups and hoping.
06

Incidents are found by customers

No useful logs, metrics or alerts, so problems surface as support tickets.

Signs your back end needs attention

These rarely fix themselves. They get more expensive with every new user.

1

Response times creep up

Pages and API calls that were instant a year ago now take seconds.

2

Traffic spikes cause outages

A campaign, a launch or a big customer onboarding takes the system down.

3

Data doesn't add up

Reports disagree with each other, and someone fixes records by hand.

4

New features need back-end heroics

Front-end and mobile teams wait on back-end changes nobody else can make.

5

You're adding a mobile app or AI feature

The current server wasn't designed for new clients, workloads or data flows.

6

Infrastructure lives in one person's head

Servers were set up by hand and nothing is written down or reproducible.

What we do

Back-end engineering, from data model to deployment

Node.js back ends

NestJS and Express services in TypeScript for APIs, real-time features and integrations.

Python back ends

Django and FastAPI services, especially where data processing or machine learning is involved.

Database design and tuning

PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB schemas, indexes, queries and migrations that hold up as data grows.

APIs for web and mobile

REST APIs and webhooks that your front ends, mobile apps and partners can build on.

Background jobs and queues

RabbitMQ, scheduled tasks and AWS Lambda for imports, notifications and heavy processing.

AWS cloud infrastructure

Environments on AWS designed for your load and budget, with Docker and Kubernetes where they help.

CI/CD and DevOps

Automated builds, tests and deploys with GitHub Actions or CircleCI, and infrastructure scripted with Ansible.

Performance and reliability

Profiling, caching, monitoring and alerts that catch problems before your users do.

How we choose the right back-end setup

There's no single correct stack. We pick based on your product, your team and the engineers you'll hire next.

Node.js

One language across front end and back end

Strong fit for APIs and real-time features

NestJS for structure in larger codebases

Wide pool of engineers to hire later

Python

Natural choice for data-heavy products

Direct access to ML libraries like TensorFlow

Django for admin-rich business apps

FastAPI for fast, typed APIs

Databases

PostgreSQL for most transactional products

MySQL where your existing systems use it

MongoDB for flexible, document-shaped data

Backups and migrations planned from day one

AWS infrastructure

Managed services where they save effort

Containers with Docker, Kubernetes when scale needs it

Lambda for event-driven and bursty work

Costs reviewed as usage changes

Back-end technologies we use

Mature, well-supported tools that your future in-house engineers will already know.

Who is this for

For products that have outgrown their server

Growing startups

Your MVP back end got you to traction. Now it needs to handle real load, real data and more developers.

Product companies

You need extra back-end capacity or a specialist for databases, infrastructure or performance.

SMBs

Your business runs on a system that must stay up, and you want someone accountable for it.

Front-end and design agencies

You own the client and the interface, and need a dependable back-end partner behind it.

What's the job?

Build a new back end

Architecture, data model and first services.

Speed up a slow system

Find the bottlenecks and remove them.

Move to AWS

Or clean up the AWS setup you have.

Automate deploys

CI/CD, environments and rollbacks.

Prepare for scale

Queues, caching and load testing.

Add back-end capacity

Engineers inside your existing team.

How we approach back-end work

01

Understand the load

We look at your users, data volumes, integrations and growth plans, or measure the system you already run.

02

Design

Service boundaries, data model, infrastructure and deployment approach, documented and reviewed with your team.

03

Build

Features delivered in sprints, with code review, automated tests and a staging environment from the start.

04

Harden

Load testing, security review, backups and alerts, so you know how the system behaves before your users find out.

05

Run and improve

Production support, cost reviews and performance work as the product and traffic grow.

What our clients
frequently ask

Should our back end use Node.js or Python?

Node.js is a strong default for APIs, real-time features and teams that already write TypeScript. Python fits data-heavy and AI-related products. We recommend one based on your product and hiring plans, and we work with both.

Which database should we use?

PostgreSQL suits most products. MySQL makes sense when it's already part of your systems, and MongoDB when data is naturally document-shaped. We also review existing databases for indexing, query and schema problems.

Do you only work with AWS?

AWS is where most of our cloud work happens, including Lambda, containers and managed databases. If you're on another provider, tell us and we'll say honestly whether we're a good fit.

Can you take over an existing back end?

Yes. We review the code, infrastructure, logs and deploy process first, fix the riskiest issues and document what we find before adding new features.

How is backend development priced?

Either monthly per engineer when they join your team, or as a fixed-price project after a Discovery Sprint when the scope is clear.

Can you build microservices?

When they help, yes. Many products are better served by a well-structured single service with queues for heavy work. We split services when team size, scaling or deployment needs justify it.
