Gilzor Team News: next.app devCon and a Client Hackathon in Germany
This autumn, Gilzor engineers stepped outside their usual sprints twice: to attend next.app devCon in Berlin and to join a hackathon hosted by one of our long-term clients in Germany. Both served the same goal: keeping our engineers’ skills current and staying close to the products we build with our clients.

On 7–9 October 2026, Gilzor developers, including Android Developer Tatiana Bulavko, attended next.app devCon in Berlin. The event started as DroidCon, a conference focused only on Android development. This year it grew into a much broader programme covering Android, iOS, Flutter, React Native, AI-assisted coding, mobile security and engineering leadership.
The change reflects where the industry is going. Mobile products rarely live on a single platform any more, and the teams that build them need engineers who understand more than one stack.

Speakers focused on the forces shaping mobile development today: the influence of AI on engineering work, growing interest in multiplatform development, security, performance optimization and measuring user satisfaction through A/B testing.
Experimentation is a topic we know from practice, because A/B testing is part of our own projects. A test result is only as reliable as its setup, so the real work is in checking what was actually tested and what the numbers really show.
Our developers came back with concrete ideas for improvements in their current projects and a wider view beyond their core specialization. For our clients, this means more versatile engineers and new practices reaching their products sooner.
A hackathon with a long-term client in Germany
Three Gilzor engineers joined a hackathon organised by one of our clients at its office in Germany. We have worked with this client for more than 6 years, and our engineers know the product’s codebase inside out.

Working on site, the team got direct feedback, saw the product from the client’s perspective and built working prototypes around ideas for its future development. Our engineers’ concepts made the Top 3 and gave the client’s Product team new input for the roadmap.
For us, a strong partnership goes beyond delivering tickets. It means understanding the client’s business well enough to challenge decisions and help shape what gets built. Events like this bring our teams closer and keep both sides moving in the same direction, which is why we are always glad to support them.
